Default Electric cutout question...

Does anyone have dual electric cutouts? If so, where did you get them and where did you mount the switches and cutouts themselves?

Thanks!

Below is a pic of a set a forum member put on his FLP x-pipe and ran the Quicktime cutout wiring into the cabin. Not sure where he had his switch but I think it was Rapid Transit so you can ask him.

I have a set of FLP inserts that replace the cats with some McCord electric cutouts that I'll be playing with soon (not permanently though - don't want to eliminate the cats for good). Below is a pic of them. Since I'm not mounting them indefintely, I may just temporarily mount the switch in the console.

For pics of switch and cutout installations, got to the link below at McCord's website.

I have a similar setup, QTP (Quick Time Performance)

I used their supplied switch and tucked it into the lip of the center console right by the seat belt clip.

It is easy to reach, didn't require drilling in my dash, and it can't be seen.

It is a sweet system, you will love it, I gained almost 10rwhp with them open.

Try this link and then scroll down to last picture to see how my QuickTime Perfromance cutouts are mounted on my C5:

Ran wiring from rear up to ashtray area (removed ashtray, had thin stainless steel plate installed where I use a nitrous momentary switch to open and close the cutouts. Very cool and very stealthy. :D

I've used the manual ones before and always had small leaks. Any exhaust leaks thru the butterfly with the electric ones. Sid.

I'm sure they leak a little bit. It isn't obvious though. When I bought them I was told to put some RTV around the edges to create a soft seal, but I haven't done that yet.

Mine are mounted just at the bend up over the axels, and since I am running stock mufflers when they are closed even if they are leaking it is very quite.

I do! They're the most fun of anything we've done with the car. We had a blast with them during last year's Hot Rod Magazine Power Tour!

The beauty of them is that you can go from decent-sounding through the MagnaFlow exhaust system to hell-raisingly loud in the matter of a few seconds.

No noticeable performance gain, but it sounds one hell of a lot more intimidating with them open (like a Pro Stock dragster). :D

Do both! Remove your cats and have electric cutouts! That's the ticket!

Does anyone have a soundclip of these with a cam? This is gonna be one of my next mods. I ran the car for a bit without exhaust and loved the sound. thanks, Kaley

I'll try and get a video or sound clip this weekend. First I have to figure out how to operate my wife's new digital camcorder. :)

I dyno'd my heads/cam car with open headers, WAY LOUD and I picked up 12 HP. This would be like that when you opened it, and still pass emissions and quiet when closed.

Patches, have you installed them on your car yet? To me it looks like they would hang down really low. just wondering.

Also wondering if anyone has installed cutouts in a 3" mid section yet?
It just looks to me like there isn't enough room to fit 'em in there

Haven't put them in yet because emissions are next month and I need to get that out of the way before messing with the O2's and swapping in the sims. They should sit almost in that position shown in the pic or slightly rotated relative to each other. The cutout sections are actually offset front-to-back when they're mounted because of the flange positions on the car.
