Can anyone tell me if this is worth the $1300.00. I want to get some muscle rumble exaust sound out of my 1999. Is the louder set up too loud?
I've also heard some guys say that the Corsa exaust sounds like a boat exaust.
Does anyone have any experience with this set up?
Thanks,
Larry
Exhaust is a very personal thing. What one person loves, another hates. I had a Corsa X-Pipe feeding my Corsa Daytona's. I liked the sound a lot, but it wasn't as deep as some others. The best advice I can give you would be to listen to as many as you can and pick the one that's right for you. There are sound clips on the vendors websites, but it's hard to arrive at a comprehensive approval that way. Maybe show up at a local vette meet and talkt to the various owners. I've found that most can't wait to start it up and show you what it sounds like. Good luck.
I started with Corsa Indys, and always hated the motorboat burble at idle, but loved the WOT sound.
I recently added an X pipe, and it eliminated the motorboat sound, still quiet inside the car, and WOT just rocks !
I agree that you should ride with someone and hear for yourself.
You gotta listen to other cars exhaust and figure out what you want. 100 guys (and gals) will give you 100 different opinions on the exhaust note. I love the sound of my exhaust; awesome rumble at idle and incredible scream at WOT. On the other hand, my wife hates the whole set up and likes the stock sound better. Just my .02.
By the way, $1300 sounds a bit steep for that set up. I'd look around a bit more for a better price. I'm sure you can find a vendor on this site willing to hook you up. Paul at WCC did my Borla's for $650 shipped, and I'm sure he'd work with you on an X pipe.
I have the corsa indys with corsa x pipe with tigershark tips and I love the way it sounds. Quiet at idle WOW at WOT. The price is a little high. Eckler sold me mine at 900.00+. But included a discount my club gets.

:iagree: The Corsa's have a sound like no other exhaust you will here and people at the track love the way my car sounds.
I have the Indy's with an X-pipe (before I installed headers) and loved the way the car sounded. It reminded me of a V-12 Ferrari. Now that I've added headers and high flow cats the car reminds me of a 69 Camaro Z28.
Nice clean exhaust with a snarl. Sort of a pre-smog sort of sound. Not all muffled and bassy like some of the other systems.
We called most of the vendors before we bought, outlining our expectations.
The Corsa people offered by far the most intelligent, comprehensive information.
We bought Indy's & X-pipe before we got the car, bolted them on the day we brought it back from Bowling Green, and couldn't be happier. Great idle, no resonance at cruise, noise controlled with throttle position!
Try to listen to a '99 with the system on it. Contact a local Corvette club and they will be happy to assist.
I listened to a friend's car and thought the Corsa Pace Car sounded good. Bought it and put it on my '01 and it SUCKED! Much too quiet. Took it off and put a Borla Stinger on it and I love it. Didn't use the Corsa x-pipe as I thought the Bassani looked like the better design.
The Corsa is quiet at cruise as advertised but much too quiet.
The Borla can be heard but it is not annoying or too loud.
I have a Corsa on my wife's car and it is okay for her because she likes it quiet. The Borla puts it to shame. Don't waste your money on a CD as they all sound about the same on your stereo. You really need to listen. As I say go to a club and listen or wait until you can catch a major show like Bloomington Gold, MAD Customer Appreciation day, etc. as they will likely have several systems you can listen too.
Good luck.
I also suggest you listen to the same type car. For instance, the Z06 has little or no sound deadening material. Anything you hear INSIDE a Z06 will be far quieter in a standard C5. I installed some Z06 titanium exhausts and they sounded quiet in my C5 cabin.
The x-pipe will defintely give the exhaust a smoother note, if that's what you want! Still, other people like the burble smack crackle pop while idling the around the parking lot.
I drove a car with the Corsa Indys and they were too loud for me in the cabin, drowned out conversation while going through the gears, but the Touring model is supposed to be quiter. I now have Flowmasters which have a nice tone from 2,000-3,500 RPM, but then are quieter at WOT than the Z06 titaniums! Go figure... Cat back decisions are stictly to taste, and I agree the most baffling to decide on!!!
