The cable broke off of my front left sensor, I want to try and solder it before I take the $700 plung, anyone know how to remove it from behind the wheel bearing?
Re: Anyone know how to remove WHEEL SPEED SENSOR? (nericreations)
From the GM manual:
Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement - Front
The front wheel speed sensors are integral with the hub and bearing assemblies. If a speed sensor needs replacement, you must replace the entire hub and bearing assembly. Do not try to service the harness pigtail individually because the harness pigtail is part of the sensor. Refer to Wheel Hub/Speed Sensor Replacement in Front Suspension.
Notice
The Front and Rear Wheel Hub/Wheel Speed Sensors are not interchangeable. When you are replacing a Wheel Hub/Wheel Speed Sensor be sure to use the correct Wheel Hub/Wheel Speed Sensor part number. Do not mount the Rear Wheel Hub/Wheel Speed Sensor in the front steering knuckle. The Rear Wheel Hub/Wheel Speed Sensor features a splined hole through the center of the bearing which mates to the drive axle. The Rear Wheel Hub/Wheel Speed Sensor requires the support of the drive axle and the drive axle nut clamped joint to properly carry the vehicle loads. Mounting the Rear Wheel Hub/Wheel Speed Sensor in the front steering knuckle can cause bearing failure and possible damage to the vehicle.
Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector.
Remove the brake caliper and rotor. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement (Front) and Brake Caliper Replacement (Front) in Disc Brakes.
Remove the stabilizer shaft link from the lower control arm.
Support the lower control arm using a jackstand.
Separate the outer tie rod ball stud from the steering knuckle using J 42188 . Refer to Tie Rod End Replacement - Outer in Power Steering.
Separate the lower ball joint stud from the steering knuckle using J 42188 . Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .
Remove the wheel hub mounting bolts.
Remove the hub and bearing assembly from the steering knuckle.
Installation Procedure
Install the hub and bearing assembly into the steering knuckle.
Notice
Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Install the wheel hub mounting bolts. Tighten
Tighten the wheel hub mounting bolts to 130 N·m (96 lb ft).
Install the lower control arm ball stud to the steering knuckle. Refer to Lower Control Arm Replacement .
Remove the jackstand.
Install the steering linkage outer tie rod ball stud to the steering knuckle. Refer to Tie Rod End Replacement - Outer in Power Steering.
Connect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector.
Install the stabilizer shaft link to the lower control arm. Refer to Stabilizer Shaft Link Replacement .
Install the brake rotor and caliper. Refer to Brake Rotor Replacement (Front) and Brake Caliper Replacement (Front) in Disc Brakes.
Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
Lower the vehicle.
Check the front wheel toe and adjust as necessary. Refer to Measuring Wheel Alignment in Wheel Alignment.
Re: Anyone know how to remove WHEEL SPEED SENSOR? (nericreations)
Any maintenance plan should cover it. My GMPP covered me on such things. Once the part has been received a dealer can make this change over in a couple of hours. Its actually quite simple when you have the right equipment.

Before you take the $700 dive... be aware that an aftermarket company makes our wheel bearings with the wheel speed sensors built in for $170. I just saved you $530...

Yep, they're great. Exact same part as the ones GM tries to sell for a billion dollars.
Easy to do with just normal hand tools, and whatever the large Torx (T50?) socket is for the bearings. Takes about half an hour per corner, once you've done the first one.

Any chance you can just replace the jumper cable that runs to the sensor?

I bought this pigtail from local 'Stealer' but when I went to install it I found that the wire coming from the sensor was snaped off, which means re solder or relace bearing..Luckly I took the car to COH today and my extended warranty plan covered it, $0 deductable :reddevil
BTW where can I get that aftermarket bearing?
Thanks!
Timken is the only OEM and all places seem to carrry the Timken part numbers.
