(+) batery cable replacement


my old battery leaked acid on to it and I think I should replace it.
Has anyone done it and if so what is involved.

1. Remove the Battery:
Disconnect the negative battery cable,
Disconnect the positive battery cable,
Remove the battery hold down retainer bolt and retainer,
Remove the battery.
2. Remove the Battery Tray:
Remove the battery tray bolts,
Remove the battery tray.
3. Positive Cable Replacement:
Open the stud cover on the fuse/relay center,
Remove the positive battery cable nut from the fuse/relay center stud,
Remove the positive battery cable lead from the fuse/relay center stud,
Remove the heat shield retainer at the upper plenum,
Remove the battery heat shield retainer and the battery heat shield,
Remove the right rear spark plug wire,
Remove the battery cable clips,
Remove the battery cables from the engine wiring harness insulator,
Raise and suitably support the vehicle,
Remove the positive battery cable terminal nut and terminals from the starter solenoid,
Lower the vehicle,
Remove the positive battery cable.

The procedure and drawings are in Section 6 of the Shop Manual. There have been Corvette magazine articles/threads on damage to wiring/HVAC/etc from leaking batteries, so you might check those as well. I purchased my Shop Manual from Ken Fichtner, a Shop Manual is inexpensive and the best "tool" you can get.
