Worth upgrading?
In other words, YES! By all means, change out the base sways to the Z51/Z06 sways. Bought mine in May 2003 via mail order from FICHTNER CHEVROLET in Laurel, MT ( www.fichtnerchevrolet.com ) via the CF. They had the cheapest prices around. There may be cheaper prices out there, but you'll have to really, really dig for them.
While your at it, have your friend junk his base shocks and add some Bilstein Sport Shocks. I purchased mine thru EShocks.com ( www.eshocks.com ), again the cheapest prices around @ the time; may still be the case now.
FYI, I ordered my '02 w/ the base set-up after reading how good it supposedly was. (Why spend the extra money?) In the end and to be honest about it all, I think this was a mistake. Base is fine for general, around-the-town driving, but stinks when it comes to performance diving. For example, the base suspension definitley does NOT cut it on the German Autobahns. (I drove my 'Vette there while stationed in Germany. Mucho fun, but the suspension needs to be pretty good when you're @ speeds above 130 mph or so. Top speed I ever hit was 171 mph indicated.) Why oh why didn't I just spend the extra $350 for the Z51 in the first place? Guess I'd grown used to the firmer suspension setting on the FX3 adjustable system that came with my former '92 coupe. (Had it for 10.5 yrs.)
In the end run, Bilsteins plus the Z06 sways will make things VERY VERY nice! :D :yesnod: :)
Later! :seeya :steering: :auto:
