hey guys, simple question: im just wondering how much backspacing i would need to have custom wheels built with to run a 17x9.5" wheel in front and a 17x11" wheel in back and not have any problems?
also, i know on my 89 iroc i needed 5.5" in front and 6.5" in the rear of backspacing to get those size wheels to tuck nicely under the fenderwells...so if i was to swap the wheels from the vette onto the fbody, how much backspace would i need to accomodate for (using a spacer, if thats even possible)?
With OEM Z06 wheels and tires (10.5 rears wheels with 295's) there is only about 3/8" clearance between the inside of the rear tire and the car ('01 coupe), if this gives you any idea. The extra inch of width of the Z06 (as I recall checking before buying and installing them) is not equally divided inside and out compared to the original wagon wheels. A little extra width is to the outside and once I looked underneath I could readily see why!
I wrote all the exact figures down, but I don't see them around at the moment--sorry. All the best and I'm sure someone will have exact backside measurements for you.
