After clearing traffic and could see open road in front of me I decided to let the beast roar since I had been driving at granny speed for the last few weeks. I was in fourth gear at about 2000 RPM and started pushing the pedal. At roughly 3000 RPM I reached the floor board and noticed a reduction in power and the "CHECK ENGINE" light started flashing. Immediately I got out of it but the little yellow light persisted. After about 1 minute of slowing I downshifted and the light went away. Has anyone experienced this?

What codes are you getting. Hit and hold the options button and press the fuel button 4 times in a row, and it will run a diagonistics and tell you what codes you have. We can help from there.
Just checked the codes and only have one in "10 PCM". The code is "P0128 C". ....
P0128 is set by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) if the engine coolant fails to reach a preset target temperature before a calculated air flow is accumulated.
P0128 is used to detect a faulty thermostat or excessive coolant flow through the bypass hose. P0128 can also be set by a skewed engine coolant temperature sensor.
Has the thermostat or cooling system been modified?
Yes the thermostat was changed to a 178 degree but you can rest assured that the stock one will be back in this afternoon to see if this happens again. Thanks Guys.
It might just be that you drive the car in the cold for a while before it gets warmed up.
Sitting in the cold overnight can lower coolant temps to as low as 50 degrees.
If you start up and drive immediately, the temp might be real cold for the first 10 mins or so. I dont know how long it takes for the code to come up.
I just realized that I only got the code when leaving friend's houses and not warming the car up for a couple minutes. (they get mad because its so loud)
There are many of us that have low temp thermostats. I have never had the code but I live in FL. It will be interesting to see what you find out!
Never had this code until the EWP and lower temp thermostat were installed. I get this code now. It seems to clear itself after you drive around to warm things up.
be safe on your trip to east texas, i guess you will be showing a certain east texas racer just how a h/c c-5 really runs........
