Serious Wheel Hop!
My '97 coupe has Z06 rear wheels (10.5") and I have tried runflats (on car when purchased), GY F1 Supercars, 295/35/18, and now Yoko AVS! I have T1 rear bars and Bilstein Sport shocks!
I have never been able to accelerate w/o wheel hop! :mad
As my HP goes up, it just gets worse!
My HP level is to the point where it feels like the back half of the car may fall off!
I would like to have no wheel hop with street tires-whats the secret? :cry
Help!
Thanks!
Roy

I had horrible wheel hop when my car was bone stock. An alignment can help, but I assume you have done that, same with lowering and shocks. What I did was to have poly u bushing installed in the rear suspension - made 90% of the wheel hop go away.
Let me get this straight. You have a 427 with a supercharger and you can't get traction on 295's. I have 335's, don't have the hp that you have and I can't get enough traction either. In order to maximize the traction, and reduce your wheel hop, I think you need adjustable shocks (set front to soft and rear to stiff), bigger and softer tires, and a prayer. You want to maximize the weight transfer from the front to rear. Of course, doing that will make it a great drag car, but not great for regular driving. Good luck and if you find an answer, please share the secret.

Re: Serious Wheel Hop! (00TORCHCOUPE)
Thanks for replies,
I don't want a drag suspension-I'm more interested in canyon carving.
I do have poly bushings all around.
So it sounds like I need better shocks-but it is quite stiff now, and I wouldn't like it any stiffer.
Any one solved this problem with shocks?
What kind?
Thanks again,
Roy
