I have a descreened '03 C5 MAF for sale in Parts if you want to give it a try and keep your stock MAF intact. I was happy with the subtle improved air flow and throttle response when I descreened mine. Now, going with a Predator custome tune and felt it would make things simpler for the tuner to get everything back to stock first. There has been lots of debate regarding actual HP gains with this mod, Good Luck
There was a post a little while ago with a bunch of replies on the gains of maf screen removal. I am even more confused on whether or not you gain or lose power by doing that than I was before I read the posts. Sorry, this doesn't help any.
A lot of potential headaches for a chance at a minimal gain at best. Leave the screen in. The stock MAF is good up to 500hp. The screen is there for a reason, it distributes the air flow evenly across the resistors for a accurate reading. :nonod:
The Z06 stock tune is much different than an LS1 such as timing table, calculated load etc. The MAF directly affects these areas of an LS1/LS6 tune. You would need to flash more than just the MAF table to tune for the Z06 MAF on an LS1. This can be done by the person who has the tools, know how and patience to properly tune for the MAF. But again, This is an unnecessary headache for a bolt on car and most H/C set ups.
:iagree:
with that said I still have a 100% working condition descreened 85mm '03 C5 MAF For sale if anybody wants to experiment without wrecking their stocker.
Sorry for the selfish plug....
