Default My First Mod on My First Vette

Just wanted to say that this forum provided me some great info to start this new love affair....with my 2000 Convertible. I just bought it Saturday and have not been able to drive it very much due to the aweful weather here in Indiana :cry but I am happy with it already. With the Active Handling and TCS it managed pretty well in the snow. At any rate to whom it may concern I just ordered a Vararam from RG in Dallas and was treated very very well. He was professional and got me a great price on what I can gather from this forum is an excellant intake system. Thanks again to all of you for helping with my decision  even though you were not telling me directly. I think the next mod will be the Borla Stingers and then time to get some tuning done. Again, great forum.

BTW, Exausts are fun because of the sounds and looks, but for performance you can get much more bang for your buck else where. You can throw a 4.10 rear end in the car for the price of most cat backs.

I was pretty torn between the Blackwing and the Vararam. I think either one would have done well, I am just trying to get the most I can for the buck....gotta catch up to my friends Mustang :smash: I was a little worried about water issues, but I think I will be alright. Still a tough choice between the 2 systems.

Thanks for the advice. I do not know how efficient the exhaust is (or is not). I read the thread on the gears and may go that route. I doubt I will be able to beat the Mustang for a while, but I do not want to be beaten like a red headed step-child either :boxing I also want to keep it very streetable since I will more then likely take it in some road trips...is 4.10 too high?

Bad thing is the only part of it I would see in a race right now is the tail lights and exhaust tips. I wish I could say that it was just a drag queen, but I can't. Road course or drag strip...I need to do some work before I run my mouth too much. At least when I get it whipped into shape, I can run in the sun

Your friends must either have heavily modified stangs, or a new Cobra.

If it is a new cobra I think you could show him your backside w/ just a 4.10

With a 6-speed you can go 80mph at about 2000-2100RPM.

I currently have one on order, and am looking for tires. Should be fun :smash:

I see you have an A4, 4.10 = too high, 3.73 is good from what I have been reading.

I think that I will be ordering a vararam pretty soon. I like the blackwing but have been told that the Vararam will give me a few 10ths over the blackwing. I guess I will see. kaley
