New Gears
Another question which has probably been asked before, but I can't seem to locate a thread.
Will the predator programming address the issue of gear scaling?
I plan to install a 3:42 rear with a SY3500 converter on my 2000 C5.
The original gears are 2:73, and I have heard conflicting reports from a few vendors in my area. Some say just use the Hypertech to change the ratio.
Some say only the predator which change the ratio and compensate for scaling, and others say only LS1 edit will properly compensate. I'm confused.
Any suggestions would help.
Thanks. :banghead:

ignore these people and never take your car to them. They know not what they speak. The Hypertec will not do gear scaling on C5's...
period
Both the Predator and LS1Edit will though. :yesnod:

Re: New Gears (jawski)
The Hypertech fails on gear scaling with the C5; but may work in other areas.
The manufacturer themselves will admit to gear changing failure and their advice is to "buy someone elses product". Call them yourself.

I was told c5s dont need speedo recalibration provided your still using stock tire height.

you are correct - there's no speedo calibration issues on a C5. But the post originator has an A4; there's shifting problems and the P1870 code to contend with.
6 speed owners don't have to contend with any quirks - you lucky dogs - :)

Thanks guys,
Hey Mike, are you still running a stock converter? How does it feel with the 3:42's?

Yes, but I gutted my pre-cats. The 3.42 is a great all around gear for everyday driving.
But if I frequented the track ... I'd of gone with the 3.73's

Re: New Gears (Mike Mercury)
Mike,
when you gutted the pre-cats, did you simply auger out the internals or did you cut them off?
Any S.O.P. improvement?
Thanks.
