Default ZO6 exhaust performance gain?

Excuse me if this has been covered before, but I'm new here, with my first C5 on order. Was wondering if there is a real performance advantage to the ZO6 exhaust, other than the weight savings'? How about the whole sytem, front to back? Would anyone know the weight savings of the titanium? How about the noise level? Looking forward to any advise, thanks.

the only thing that is titanium is the cat back (the muffler, tips, and over the axle piping) .......... the rest is the same as the C5

you will see slight gains from the cat back (5 hp maybe) and it is a deeper throatier sound

and they look better too :)

hope that helps

IMO... no. There is a sound improvement; mainly due to the different metals used. As for the H pipe differences; the only thing the Z06 has different is no pre-cats. But you can gut yours (assuming your C5 year has them):

gutting your C5 pre-cats

If youre going to do it, do the entire exhaust, I did the Tit exhaust only, and the difference in sound was minimal, when I replaced center section from a ZO6, the difference was BIG, I dont know whether having one high flow cat instead of two per side was the reason, but it sure made a big difference in sound.

AND, the titanium is truly lifetime, unlike stainless steel which can rust, I think the guys selling the ZO6 exhausts are going to regret it down the line.

I havent dyno'd, but the exhaust makes so little of a difference in performance, Ive seen it estimated as about a 5 to 8 HP gain MAX for the entire ZO6 system swap, and that was with intake mods, K&N, air bridge, MAF, etc.

Bottom line, it makes the car sound meaner, especially at full throttle and higher RPMs, but it sounds tame if your not flogging the pedal, and its all GM parts, for less than aftermarket, if you watch the forums and ebay.

Oh yeah, I bought my 03 and traded in my 85, which I thought was impressive, till I drove the 03, you will LOVE your new vette, frankly, I worried about getting mine two years before the C6 came out, and when I saw the C6 on the TV on new years eve, I KNEW I made the right decision.

Congratulations, and welcome to the C5 world.

Horsepower gains from exhaust are very neglibible. Add an exhaust for sound and appearance. The Z06 exhaust is a good choice if you want to reduce weight and a better than stock but somewhat mild sound.

I put a Z06 Ti exhaust on my '02 Coupe. I love the beefier looking tips, and it sounds a little deeper. But it's not a huge difference...

I have a friend that did the swap on his '98 6 speed with a dyno before and after, saw about a 6rwhp gain from it and the sound is better.

The weight savings is around 17 pounds.
