Default Spec III - Post Install/Break In Questions

I picked my car up yesturday and this thing shudders like a son of a bitch....

I hear the term chatters alot - but my car is shuddering when i try an launch the car.

I called spec and they said it is "normal", but i was not sure the proper procedures for breakin - should i try to shudder the car to assist with breakin or should i try and reduce the shudder as much as possible (Lauch off idle almost) and just deal for a while?

Also - The clutch Grab's really HIGH - is this normal?... I did replace the slave with the 02+

1 more thing - I drive alot of Highway miles.... what is the best way for me to expedite the break in process?

Thanks

clutch grabbing high is normal. It will lower as time goes on. Did you install a alum flywheel? If so, break in will be in the 500-700 mile range. Steel flywheels break in a little faster 300-500 miles.

Yup thats the SPEC for ya!

You need about 500 miles of driving and then 8-9 WOT blasts down the 1/4 mile. Get the clutch as hot as you can get it. After that it should be fine.

Mine chattered like a SOB until i replaced my 99 Slave and master with 04 parts. But that was after my breakin.

My Spec 2 sometimes squeals (sounds like a seal) upon engagement in first gear when its cold (alum flywheel) - has anyone else had this problem? It is about 800 miles old....

I called Spec and they said its normal....

I have not heard of a clutch squealing. But It took at least 1000 miles for mine to quit chattering. Good Luck!!

I do not know what you are meaning when you say launch. Is that launch as in at 2-3000 rpms or just taking off from a stand still.

I had my SpecIII installed in the middle of December and I still am babying the thing, no launches at all, just smooth as possible in/out.

I have the aluminum flywheel and have had to provide a little more throttle to get going good but not so much as to actually launch as I would at the track.

I was told that the SPEC III will only be as good as the break in.

I mean from take off... It seems that i almost have to "take off" off idle to avoid the shuddering/chattering and i was just curious what others were/have experienced as well.
