Do you order c5r heads from GM, from Katech? how expensive are they and is this bare head--I am thinking that to save the value of the the head it would be better to change pistons than try shrouding etc to get these to a streetable CR of say 11.25 CR--there is no doubt they outflow anything available and I'm sure they will outflow anything in the works like the AFR's--they are obviously either hard to get or very expensive or completely impractical or more people would be applying them to their cars---
   Sorry I asked--I think a 100K+ is enough to put into this car I can see another 20K to get these heads up and running but boy would 400cfm be sweet--than another 5K+ to get an intake and TB that would feed it--I should have gotten an LPE 427TT with boost controller and been done with it--
Last time I checked, the bare C5R head was about $1200ish. The head is layed out in that it requires at least a 4.10" bore cylinder. Beside the point mentioned about the custom intake, the non full race version uses 38cc chambers so a serious dish piston( -24cc ) would need to be used.
Keith--I've got the 4.1 bore--I assume thats 1200+- each, do you know if the hardware I have on these new heads would work on them, valves, springs, roller rockers etc--I would think a sheetmetal intake would feed them at a reasonable CR if we can find a TB that will draw enough air--I assume it would only be practical to go solid roller with them--
Hell I didn't think about headers too--I wish I had done this to start with I have too much in the current setup already--
I'd go back to a blower before I got involved with all that C5R mess. A 427 (or your 436) with 9:1 C.R., an appropriate blower cam, and a T-Trim Vortech at 11-12 psi should be good for at least 700 RWHP, and would probably be a cheaper conversion than going C5R. It would require more sophisticated engine management and an upgraded fuel system, but I did all that on my dear, departed Camaro and the results merit the effort.
I'm with you Mark--screw it I would just like what I have to reach its potential and it will be more than adequate--I would settle for a decent idle right now--drawing 5 inches of vacuum at WOT--I need the FAST 90 setup to work and that will be enough for gods sake, I really just want a good fast powerful and fun street car--
