Specs. inside on new MONSTER T REX Thunder Racing cam!
Straight off the website!!
Thunder Racing Custom Camshaft - T-ReX v.2 - 242/248 - .608/.612 - 110 lsa 3500-6700 RPM Power Band. Violent mid-range & high RPM power. Requires computer tuning, 4000+ converter on autos, 4.10's or greater on manual trans cars. Due to the fast ramp rate of this camshaft, the use of 1.8 rockers is not recommended. Due to the extreme nature of this camshaft, piston to valve clearance must be verified when using modified cylinder heads.
MAN, i remember a year and a half ago when the TR 224/224 cam was considered big. This new monster cam was the cam just tested in the stock headed (LS1) Thunder Racing 346 stock cubed LS1 motor, that made 455rwhp and 408rwtq on stock LS1 HEADS!!!!eek:
This monster cam is a tad more radical then the 244/244, .612 lift, 112 lsa MTI S1 cam i'm running in my C5R Based 427 motor!!! :chevy Way to GO THUNDER RACING on pushing the LS1 Cam world with stock heads even further!!!!   I guess when my MTI warranty is up is will have to upgrade to something like a 254/254, .625 lift 112 lsa cam just to keep up with the JONES' on my 427 motor  :D

Nice "Standard Split" cam. Fairly common big cam for larger Cu in engines. I have to hand it to Thunder for trying that cam in a Stock cu in engine.
We have been using those specs for a year on our bigger cube engines but no one wanted to take the plung on a stock cubes.
Way to go.

Sounds almost identical to the specs used in some C5R 427's - someone has some nads to try it in a stock CID motor.
My little G5X-3 makes some good power and is streetable enough to let my grandma drive it.

I wonder if this COULD be made to work in a daily driver with a good tune. I'm almost ready to start working on my motor. I have 385 rwhp with two bolt ons. I wonder if 470 rwhp is possible with lg long tubes, ported throttle body, full tune, and a Meziere HD water pump. If andy at A@A can make this into a daily driver its on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The technology and power on these cars makes me want to slap my momma! :flag

Ok - now we've got to see this with some high flowing heads and 90mm FAST ASAP. 520?
450rwhp with stock LS1s heads.

The power is great but I am most impressed by the fact they can make the damn thing idle--I wish Paul were closer I would have mine on his dyno early monday morning--

Re: Specs. inside on new MONSTER T REX Thunder Racing cam! (NEPTUNEBILL)
Man, I would imagine with stock LS6 heads (Z06) one could expect around 460rwhp with full bolt ons etc.    Like i always said, who need expensive ported aftermarket heads anyways!!:D MAN I LOVE THIS SHI T!!!!! :steering: :auto: :grouphug:

About time someone stepped it up.
MTI 427 Roadster : you need to step it up now dude. Get some ISKY doube springs and you wont have to worry about anything. Can you imagine another 25rwhp on top of what you have?

Re: Specs. inside on new MONSTER T REX Thunder Racing cam! (fast 98 C5)
Like to know what this thing idles at????? Wonder how it would work on ported LS1 heads that and if it would work on heads that were milled 30 thousands. If I had the room and time I'd throw my 409 cam(238/246 110) in just to see what it could do.Need a bigger garage!!!!!!!!!!1111

SLAMMED:
The cam was really developed for stock headed lS1/6 motors b/c of the extreme piston to valve clearance issues. SERIOUSLY DOUBT they would work on the heads milled that you reference. Maybe i'll throw this bad boy in my Z06 some day!!! :D
KUMAR:
Won't be doing any experimenting on my 427 MTI C5R motor until the warranty is 100% over which is not until March 2005. After that then we will go a big as possible on a cam in my 427 as long as it doesn't stall on the street. UNTIL THEN, i guess i will just have to enjoy my lil old MTI S1 cam 244/244, .612 lift, ll2lsa ;) :steering: :chevy

Here is a link to the discussion that Jason started when he posted about the cam. It includes impressions on drivability, idle speed(just under 1000rpm) and comments from others.
It will not pass emissions, IMO, as it has something like 50 degrees of overlap. That would drive the hydrocarbon number up big time.
