I just ordered a FLP trans for my 99 c5 after smoking 2 stock transmissions. What kind of performance gain can I expect and will I finally have a trans that will last? Has anyone had a problem with a FLP trans?
I run one with a Precision 2800 stall on my TT setup.
On occasion I have been known to lean on it pretty hard, but not to often    , No problems at all Chuck builds one hell of a unit, just be sure to follow his directions to the letter since it operates a little differently than the stock unit.
My guess is you will now start grenading rear ends and breaking shafts since your new trans is now pretty stout.
I put mine in two weeks ago (4L65LE Level 5). Smooth shifting at part throttle, and solid shifts at full throttle. It feels great.
However I haven't figured out why my P1870 codes (transmission component slip) didn't go away with the old transmission. Even checked the fluid level many times.

When you did the install did you turn off the torque management completely?
Call chuck at FLP it is most likely a PCM programming issue if everything is working correctly
I am on the 2nd stock one now so I will need one soon, hopefully later than sooner. What are the special instructions you are talking about to break it in. How does this tranny perform and feel as compared to stock?
Re: FLP level 4 transmission (2001 Red Coupe Bandit)
The Flp tranny shifts smooth but firm and quick. At WOT" it kicks like a swift bull. The Flp has a manual valve boost which makes shifts so much better. I Love it :D

I talked to Mitch, he said to LS1Edit the shift time to 0 above 250ft/lbs. I'll have to ask JR of TeamZR-1 to see if his tune disabled the torque management. I really need to find a local LS1edit shop or tuner to do things like this. It'll take too long to buy and have LS1edit shipped to me.
What kind of delivery times did you guys get on the FLP tranny? I am getting ready to order a new tranny and am interested in the wait I will have to endure!
My tranny was shipped friday morning and delivered tuesday and the old tranny was picked up that thursday and all has been great. :yesnod:
I do get the P1870 code from time to time that I believe is related to the Yank SY3500 that was installed at the same time. I think that at times, the PCM mistakes the high stall of the converter for slipping when the converter is unlocked. Because of the way the FLP is controlled the code causes no change in the shifting behavior of the trans so correcting it is not high on my list of things to do.
One thing to remember is to not use synthetic dextron in the trans because it is not compatible with it, according to Mitch.

When are you getting the P1870 codes? I get mine at steady cruise anywhere between 50-80mph, and average around 20miles between codes. The revs go up 200-300rpm, the check engine light comes on, and instant MPG drops 3-4mpg. I can clear the code and 'check engine' light through the DIC buttons, but the code in 40-mile history makes the car fail smog.

I also get a P1870 alarm code from time to time. But it occurs only once every 500 miles or so. And seems to alarm only when I use 4th gear. But I have attributed that to the MMS nightmare I experienced. I only saw this alarm code after they installed my Direct Port Disaster, althouugh they also installed the Extreme Tranny and ST3600 TC many months before, and I never saw any codes. Incorrect MMS tuning may also be the cuase. As I remember, the MMS tuner said he locked the TC in 4th gear?
In any event, I do not have a clear cut answer on this issue still.
I hope this helps you some.
