Default headers-1 7/8 or 1 3/4

car is mildly modded. stock displacement, stock ls6 heads, only minor bolt ons..

future mods are bolt ons only. slight chance of aftermarket heads/cam.

have at it, i wanna hear thoughts, opinions, etc...

1 7/8 for stroker and H/C cars...1 3/4 for external mods.

:iagree:

I went with 1 7/8" Kooks. If I had gone with LG's, I think I would have stayed with the 1 3/4" though..

In my opinion.....

1 5/8" would be optimal for a bolt-on only, mild heads/cam or cam only application.

1 3/4" would be optimal for a heads/cam or street/strip big cube setup.

1 7/8" would be optimal for a VERY agressive race oriented (high RPM)heads/cam or big cube setup.

:iagree:

Good luck finding the 1-5/8" with the proper collector length (30-34")!! Make sure you stay away from shorty headers; they're a waste of time and money. When I get more secure in my work, I'm going for the LGM production headers since I want some decent low-end torque along with my horsepower. They're not perfect, but from what I've studied, they're the closest and leave plenty of room for bolt-ons (heads, cam, intake, etc.) without having to worry about changing. That said, I still wish someone would make the "right" long tube header for a lightly modified LS-1!

Good luck on your choice! FWIW, if you don't want to chunk down the $$$$ for the LGM's, the Stainless Works are probably the second best choice followed by the Kooks. Unless you want peak HP only, then it looks like the Kooks might be best. As you can see, there are numerous factors and it all depends on what you plan to do to your car, how you plan to drive it most, and how much money you're willing to spend.
