My C5 is squeeking in the front suspension area. I thought it might be the shocks, but when I pushed down on the front fenders they seem to be still good. (it just squeeks) Do all the stock shocks start squeeking when they need to be replaced, or could it be something with the suspension? I took it to a mechanic friend and he said it is probably the shocks. Anyone have the same experience? :banghead:
Re: Squeeky front suspension: maybe somebody can help (mark b)
look at the front sway bar bushings.if you unbolt the sway bar from the links, you can move it by hand, also look at where the bushings wrap around the bar,if you have rust build-up or the bar is hard to move, its most likely your problem.

Thanks for the input, I'll check it out. Also would it be cool to spray alittle WD40 on the links to eliminate the squeeks? It might just be the frigid weather. This problem just started recently, and when I take it to get it checked the car seems to know it and it doesnt squeek! But I will check out the bushings.

Once you get the bushings loose clean the area where they sit and put a light coating of silicone grease on the bar. The silicone grease will not only lube the bushing but help prevent water from getting in there and causing rust.

I've had the same problem ever since I upgraded to Hotchkis sway bars and links. I finally tried spraying each end link with WD40 and that did the trick for me.

If it's a bushing, you'll have to replace the arm. I had a bushing go in my rear suspension and didn't realize what was squeaking till I replaced a shock and lubed the sway bar bushings.

If this just started with the cold weather wait a while until it warms up a little. Some times the monoleaf springs will squeak for a while when they are cold. I have had plenty of bad shocks over the years but non that ever squeaked.
