I only know of one... that is carbon fiber... lighter than stock.. heat extrracting , and you can leave it out in the rain.. That is a Mortor city hood...
to be lighter than stock you need to be carbon fiber... there are only two heat extracting CF hood to my knowledge,... the Halltech stinger, and the motor city hood.. the halteck has four openings to the eliments.. one is right over the pcm... the motorcity hood has one which was design specifically to be no problem in a wet or rainy envirnonment.. the halltech is 1899 plus the cost of a box 40 dollars and shipping... shipping is around 150 to 200 dollars depending on where you live.. the Motor city hood is 1599 for the standard high rise or the slightly higher SuperCharger hood.. no charge for the bullet proof box they come in.. shipping will be about the same....
there are three or four other heat extractors out there but they are as heavy as the stock hood... BPP, Eklers, DRM,
I have a Motor City Mold hood on order, and I was under the impression that the SC hood was the same price?? Regardless, it is a great product that continues to get rave reviews from the toughest critics: the body shops that have to install them.
I have the DRM hood for almost 3 years. I have driven this car in a HEAVY rain at 65 to 100+ mph for over 8 hours. I wash this car and have left it out in the rain for 5 weeks. Water did nothing to the engine compartment or the electronics. Some people like it but are afraid of the water issue... dont be.
