Default a4 reliability w/ more hp?

an a4 with bolt ons, about 330 rwhp , torque converter (2800 - ss3600 stall)rear 3.42 or 3.73 gears .Did tou have any trans. problems on the street? what about at the track with mickey thompson ET tires ? broken output shaft ? i'm trying to decide if i should go 3000 stall w/my3.15 or upgrade to 3.42 or 3.73 rear w/treated gears high output shaft + flp trans. i take it to the 1/4 mile track approx. 15 times per season and also mostly daily street driving. Thanks in advance guys

I went w/Yank 3000....wish it was a 3600!! Gears at 3.42 work good for the amount of highway drivin I do. :thumbs:

I had 3.15's and a 2900 stall and had no problems for 1yr and then I did H/C and they held up great. I then switched to 3.42's and a SY4000 stall and the tranny went to crap. I now have the FLP Level 4 and i's running great so far. :thumbs: :cheers:

I spent about a year with 3.42 later 4.10 and 2900 and 3500 stall converter. I made 450 passes in the quarter and drove like 18K miles before my trans went south. Used many tire combinations including ET street with rwhp as high as 390 and did not break an output shaft.

Of course others have had less and done less and broke the tranny. It is is an upredictable thing

I had a SY3500 and 3.15's, put a couple hundred passes on the tranny. Then added 3.73's and the tranny failed within 20 passes. I don't think it was due to the gears, just a coincidence. Since then I had the Vette Drs rebuild the tranny, added a SS4000 at the same time. Eventually I added heads and cam, broke and replaced a rear, and about 100 passes after the tranny was rebuilt it's still good as new. :cheers:
