How exactally does the computer detect a misfire? I know with several of the software packages available a cylinder misfire can be detected. Does anyone know what method is used to detect this??
I don't know how it's done in the vette in particular. when OBD-II first came out, one common strategy was to detect accelaration of the crankshaft on each firing event. If one cylinder didn't fire, there would be no matching accelaration, hence misfire.

Sounds like a logical way to do it. Thanks for the post.
Are you getting the P0300 code on your DIC? I am getting that code and would like to figure out why the car is misfiring. i have not had time to look at it since I am in Florida and the car is in Colorado. Any ideas on what it could be? Thanks, Kaley
