OK. I went to the track last night!!! I was really excited to try out the car with the new 4.10 gears. The last time I went out I ran a 12.34, 116mph,2.10 60ft with new Nitto drags 275/40/17's. Well Last night I could not get the car hooked at all with the new gears. The best time was 12.52 at 114mph,2.01 6ft.
My question is: What rim/tire setup should I go with in order to bring my 60ft's down? I know launch has alot to do with it and I tried a couple of different scenerios but even feathering the clutch would not help. Do I just need to break in the Nitto's order to get better traction?
Alot of people on here are running the CCW drag package. I think it is around $2500.00 for this package new. You might try and break in the tires a bit more. Are they the 555 R's? Kaley
Bro, thats exactly what I would have expected to happen. I think as you get used to the gears you will get better times than with the stock gearing. Remember its not just the launch but every shift is different now. I would heat up those nittos an extra 5 seconds and practice alot on those gears. Once you get the hang of it and the nittos are hopefully worn out, throw on some et streets and your traction issues are gone. That 1-2 shift is the hardest to nail with 4.10's when your pinned back in your seat.
Get some BFG Drag Radials, they Hook Great and are cheap $225 each. I run 380 RWHP and 400 RWTQ, likely a lot more since this is through an A4 with a 4000 stall.
I got a 1.58 60' a few weeks back and several 1.60's. That is what you need , but they don't last Long at All. I have 12,000 on my almost 3 year old Vette so I don't care about that.
I think I just need to be patient and get used to running with new gears. I also need to put some more passes on the tires. It was frustrating though. I know that If I can just get it right I should break into the 11's. I had my hopes up last night!!!
With the Nittos, count to 5 after you first see smoke during the burnout. I got consistent 1.70s with the before I upgraded converters. On BFG d/rs I went 1.60 with a 3800 stall tc, and 1.54 on ET Streets/CCWs. The BFGs will be a LOT more consistent with your gear though :yesnod:

Dahoof: Here is some info I gathered from a guy who ran the new nittos at the track.
1) Heat the tires up extra long(he rec. doing burnout in 2nd gear)
2) His best 60' were with tire pressure from 18-19.
He actually had better 60 than with the bfg's on same day.
295 35 18 bfg vs. 305 35 18 nitto. Hope that helps.
