I just got my car back from the shop for a new clutch and now my shifter is really loose and sloppy to the point where I have trouble getting into first and nearly impossible to get in reverse. I havent pulled the shifter yet but I will this weekend.
On my trans am, there is a spacer (cup like collar that goes over ball end of shifter) that goes between the end of the shifter and tranny linkage. Is there such a thing in the vette? If so, it feel as if this spacer was left out. Does anyone have any pics of the shifter out of the car or schematic of area?
thanks alot
J
I am having the same issue w/ my car after the dealer installed my 4:10's. It is impossible to get it into reverse 95% of the time. I posted for help not to long ago but didn't get anything. Let me know if you get any ideas. Thanks, Kaley
Pull the shifter boot off and make sure that the dealer tightened the shifter to the shifter rod. It is an allen bolt that locks them together, if it is loose it will allow a lot of slop and wont move the rod over enough to put the trans is reverse.
