New Spec II clutch wont fully disengage?
I have a 00 FRC, just put a new Spec II clutch in, with stock flwheel, now it is very hard to put in reverse and difficult to get into any gear. I bled and bled the system, it seems to not have any air in it. There are no adjustment tabs on the pressure plate. I did an archive search and saw that some people have had the same problem, but noone posted how to fix it.
I am considering cutting my clutch rod and threading a buckle on the shaft for adjustment. Any ideas???

Is it still hardto get in gear with the motor off? I just had my clutch done, the tech forgot to tighten the set screw on the shift rod. This left me with to much play in the shifter so I was unable to get in to 1st or reverse.

It will go into gear with the car off, but when the motor is running it is very difficult to get into reverse. All the gears take some extra effort to get into gear.

Hi NV MY C5,
Before you do anything else, did you have your stock flywheel resurfaced and the clutch/flywheel rebalanced together? Also, did you install a 2001+ slave and master at the same time you had the clutch installed?

no resurface and no balance, I tried to extend the rod but now I dont have enough pedal travel. I ordered a 03 Z06 slave and actuator from chevy today. I hope this will take care of it.

I had the very same problem. After a lot of trouble shooting two problems were found. First I suggest that you stop driving it, the syncronizers won't last long. My pressure plate to flywheel bolts had loosened you need to use loctite and torque, they can be checked by removing the inspection cover. Second the stock master cylinder is a piece of crap buy the McCloud it is a very nice product and will end your trouble. :smash:

Not that this is causing your particular problem, but for future reference and for those reading this thread, when you use your SPEC clutch with a stock flywheel, the factory flywheel must be resurfaced. Also, the new clutch and old flywheel should be rebalanced together and verified to be in specificiations. SPEC also recommends the installation of 2001 and newer model slave and master cylinders if you have pre-2001 parts or the current parts are not in great shape.
I'd recommend you speak directly to the vendor where you purchased your clutch.
Good luck!

Don't waste your money on the McLoed Master. You don't need it with SPEC clutches. I HAD A MCLOED SO I SPEAK FROM EXPERIENCE. It made NO difference except more crap to adjust. I went back to an '02+ master and of course '02 slave(a must) and everything has been flawless for 1.5 years and 700+ tq. launching with CCW drag slicks and street driving.
Sounds to me like your slave is not working correctly. You may have overextended it if a little air got in the line. Happened to me once. The problem is the tranny has to come back out... :nonod:
