Knocking Sound At Start Up

Knocking Sound At Start Up
I have hear this is a common thing, but not sure. The knocking lasts a few minutes as the engine is warming up. It also seems to be coming from the right side. Once it is warmed up, sound is gone and it runs great.
Any insight? Suggestions?

This is common on the 01's and if I'm not mistaken GM will give you an extended warranty because of it.

Any insight? Suggestions? it's piston slap.just turn up the radio and dont pound on your car untill it warms up.
