Default Noobie question.

Hey guys.
Very noobie question. First of all.... nice to be in this forum. I been reading for few days before I decided to join. Many people on this forum has a lot of knowledge about cars.
Back to the question..,
My friend owns a 2003 Corvette Convt. Automatic. He tells me that it's a real fast car. And he's trying to convince me to buy one. (And he wants to race my car a tear my car apart to prove it next week)
All I know is that he has K&N filter. (I think) What kind of time should I/ he be expecting? Stock everything cept filter. 1/4 mile and trap speed if anyone knows. I'm sure it depends on many condition, but I'm just searching for approximate numbers. I have got so many different numbers from 12.7-14.9...I thought I come here to ask. Thanks in advance everyone.

Depends on what gears he has and tires. Also how good he is at launching but I would say 13.4 - 13.8 at 109 MPH. Mine is 13.59 at 109 with just a filter and 2.73's with runflats.

I ran a 13.2 my first time at the track when the car was basically stock w/ 3:15 performance axle. I did have a drop in K&N air filter and Goodyear GS F1 non-runflat tires which deviate from stock.

Average? Probably low 13's with the perf axle, mid/high 13's with the 2.73's. Obviously, the driver can affect those times one way or the other...

Default Thanks for your replies

Thanks for your replies everyone.
He has no performance axle. He is stock with K&N filter only. Stock tires as well.
If that's the case, I guess my understanding is that I should expect around 13.5 or so? Thanks guys. (If incorrect, please let me know.)

I was just worried about how I will get my butt handed to him at the track, but I guess if it's mid 13's.., it won't be THAT bad.
THanks again everyone. If you have more info or advice, please post. THanks a million.

Low to mid 13's is my guess. What kind of car and 1/4 mile / mph are you running?

Thanks for your welcome evil twin.

I'm running 12.7-12.9 constantly with pump gas on my lil 4 banger WRX.
I trap 106 - 107 at the MOST though... (AWD stinks on a high speed...and long butt 4th gear doesn't help either.) Engine is too small. I was thinking of solstice when it comes out. (Some told me that it is supercharged and some says it is N/A. Anyone know?)

Thanks again everyone.

Should be a very close 1/4 mile race with a stock C5 A4. I would win, but I have an M6 and run a faster MPH. The WRX, AFAIK, uses a turbo.

what he can run and what he has to run at the track are two very different #'s. If he has a vert. NHRA rules require a hard top or roll bar to run under 14 sec. That being said he could run 13.4 with good 60' times
