I have a 2001 6-speed and every time in 1st and 2nd gear as I approach 2500 I hear a noise that is a lot like wind noise and as soon as I shift it goes away is this normal not had this car but about 1 year
thanks for your input
David
I have a similiar noise issue, it sounds like a whistle, and it is always around 2500 rpm and it is also dependent on the amount of throttle engagement. I noticed this noise after I installed my blackwing, but I don't rule out the fact that the noise was not there before as I changed to a blackwing very shortly after buying the car. Does this sound like the same issue as yours? If so do you have a BW?
I have a 2002 6 speed manual with about 7K miles.
Yup, mine did the same thing. It wouldn't make the noise when the car was standing still (not under load) and revving the engine. It only happened when going down the road. The only other thing that is not stock on mine is that I removed the screen in the MAF.
I think something is hitting its resonant frequency during that speed. :banghead: Maybe someone else here had the same problem and fixed it.
I may have your answer here. I have, what sounds like, the same issue. I would describe it as a whistling noise. Anyway after replacing intakes and going over the entire engine compartment to no avail I found this out: article # 265 on http://www.corvetteactioncenter.com. According to this GM has a TSB out on what they call "Whistle Noise From Intake Manifold". The fix is a new intake manifold. Check it out. :mad
Thanks a lot Goodhands!!! I think that is exactly what I have. When I get my car out of storage I am going right over to the dealership to see what excuses they will give me.
My dad's did that. Found out it was a loose connection between the rubber boot coming off the air bridge going into the throttle body. It had come partially seperated from the throttle body and would make a little whistling noise.
My car has the exact same problem! know exactly what your talking about. Sure is annoying, but at least liveable. I've heard it's the intake as well. Thanks for the link
I have it too. Kind of annoying. It has to do with a gap in the LS1 manifold that is meant for the F body throttle bodys. Since our TB's don't have the matching port it creates turbulance that makes the whistling sound under low load and low RPM's like we all have experienced. If you're under warranty I would say take it in but if not someone had posted a site with good instructions on how to fill in the port with a plug and JB Weld. I'll look for it. I haven't gotten annoyed with it enough to do the mod yey though.
You may have found the answer on some of these posts. I have a twin flow intake and it makes that whistle. I've also heard that this intake was designed to do that. It almosts sounds like blow-off from a turbo. but it is not as loud.
well after talking to gm I am taking the car in on Friday to have it looked at being that I have the extended I figured why not will post and let you know what they say I know they will try to say it is the twin filter but have had that on only a few days
