Re: oil pressure sensor (birch64)
Not sure what the cause is...But I've done a couple at the dealership that have failed weeks later as well. I've heard of alot of replacement sensors failing lately. What can you do but do it again
This makes two or three times I have heard of this happening. Perhaps try an aftermarket brand and see if it solves your problem.
this happens to hundreds of C5... the problem is tw0 fold.. one is the dealer installed an old part number... Ac delco has redesigned the sensor.., the second problem is the tech over torqued the sensor.. a very commom problem
the part number was 12573107 dont know if thats the new or old part number, dont think the dealer will put an after market one in. hopefuly this should be under warranty it was only 2 weeks ago.............

I installed two of these... one in mine and one in a friends... I used the part number in the tech tips.. section.. under my name.. go to tools at the top of the page , then tech tips , then C5, then look for oil sensor replacement..
just talked with the dealer there giving me a hard time, there telling me they never seen a sensor go bad this fast. they told me the sensor they installed is the newest one part #12573107 the old part #12562230 was replaced by the new number. there calling gm to see what to do and they will get back to me this afternoon. they got me for $328.17 the first time not again
thanks for the info, i took all the feed back to the dealer and they replaced the switch no charge (which they had to it was under warranty)but the now thay told me if this ones goes the next one wont be covered. WE"LL SEE

if you have a warranty , they have to cover it... secondly the part itself has a 1 yr guarantee.... also this will be the third attemp to fix this problem which qualifys you for the lemon law////And people wonder why I am so hard on dealers... How dare they tell you the Next one wont be covered....No wonder I and many others could not wait top get out from under the GM warranty....
