Not positive, but I think its a 2400. Contact WCC to be sure though.

It is the PT2400. I checked before I bought mine. I have a new one
just back from Protorque for sale. $495.00 plus shipping.
It stalls more like 2600. I liked it for a daily driver. Lots of low end
torque. STR 2.3, it drives like stock until you hammer it.

I really doubt the 2400 could give gains like that. It's probably the 2900.

I don't know about their claims in the add, but I have seen posts by members with the PT2400 that said they have run 12.6s with it.
Do a search.

And I've seen members run 12.2's with PT2900's, I ran a 12.1 with a SY3500, and a 11.6 with a SS4000, what's your point?

I should have given some more insight before. A while back when I had my SY3500/3.15 combo I drove a friend's car with the PT2400 and 3.42's. Our other mods were simular. My car got out of the hole quicker than his, and his felt like a dog in the upper rpms.

I had the PT2400 and 3.42s in my car. This combo gave improved performance over the stock converter out of the hole. However I saw little or no improvement in my cars performance from a roll at highway speeds. I have seen others run 12.6 with a PT2400 but I could only get 12.9 out of my lead sled. At the time my only mods were a Blackwing and the PT2400 and 3.42s. The PT2400 is a good little converter that drives almost just like stock when you are driving normally. However IMO it does not have enough stall, do it the right way the first time and get a converter with more stall (at least 3000 stall a 3500 would be even better) and avoid having to swap converters like I had to do.

It depends on what he is going to do with the car. Seems like their is a few strip guys who always push 3500+ converters. My guess is that they must run around town pedal to the floor, getting 13 miles to the gallon. In a daily driver (not a strip car) I don't see how this is the right setup. If you drag race from every light, maybe. I am willing to bet that most (not all) of the 3500+ stall guys drive some other car to work most of the time. There is no question about which converter will give you a few extra 1/10s in the quarter, the 3500s will. But at what cost? He may not run the 1/4 mile. Loss of MPG, throttle response, wear and tear on the tranny and motor, all maybe matter to him. As for a loose pedal, I did not like a 3500 (although it was a SY3500) I can not say how a SS3500 drives. A lot of the negative comments about the PT2400 on the forum come mostly from 3500+ guys that run their car at the strip, at least part time. So before everyone jumps on the 3500 band wagon, first lets find out what it is they want out of the car STRIP or STREET or BOTH. :)

:lurk:

Thanks for your responses. See my sig for list of mods. To answer some of your questions ...
My car is a daily driver - and I want to keep streetability - that is why I went with the magnuson. I plan to go drag strip probably once a year, or LESS - basically I want to go to "see what she will do". I do plan on autocross several times a year - have not taken yet.

Good guess.
There's lots of factors that determine how loose a setup will feel. I have a Yank SS4000 with 3.73's, and it only feels a little looser than stock. I had my girlfriend drive my car the other day, and she said it felt normal to her. I think some guys on here need to take off the panties and grow a set. Before this setup I had a SY3500 and 3.15's, I added 3.73's later on. Not until I installed the 3.73's did I notice a decrease in fuel economy. You just have to apply a little more pedal to get the car moving. Once you're on the parkway, it locks up just like any other converter. I didn't notice a decrease from when I went from the 3500 to 4000 stall either.

I don't street race, I only race at the strip. And I drive my C5 year round, even to work. I have another car to haul stuff around, get groceries, and to drive in poor weather.

Going from a PT2400 to a 3500+ stall converter could give you another half second off your E.T. Plus it allows you to go with a more agressive cam shaft.

The SS series converter will feel tighter than the SY without a doubt. My SS4000 feels about the same as my old SY3500. IMO, the SY3500, 3.73's, and some non-runflats(or lots of practice) is the best street combo.

You should have said that from the start. Since you have a Magnuson you need to keep the converter stall speed low to keep it in the power band. I'd give Mike from Yank a call on which converter to go with. Even though the PT2400's stall speed is going to be close to what you need, I still wouldn't recommended it. They aren't efficient, and I know of a few people who've had lockup issues with them.

Since he was asking if this was a PT2400 and he already has the 2800, it seemed like he might be looking for less stall not more, I would not have jumped in if I thought he was looking for more.

Mods: magnuson, blower cam, LS6 heads, 3.42 rear diff, PT 2800 TC, GHL exhaust with Magnaflow X-pipe, Cara.

I try to look at what the person is asking, and if I have first hand knowledge on the subject, give my opinion.
