Default Dyno on the 436

We decided to try a base line today before putting on the FAST 90 setup-- when the tires broke loose at about 5500 we had over 500 lbs torque at the time then it spiked to about 530 when the tires went nuts-- when the motor ran out of air at about 5700rpm--we were at 480rwhp at the time: this dyno is as similar to driving in traffic as it gets, it is outside in the heat and humidity hood cracked to put the wideband cable in the intake, no fans, I have a stock 75mm MAF with screen in place, 335 tires, my 390 gears cost me 15rw on the dyno when I had the blower motor--I have the rev set at 7K hopefully the fast will let it get there--we are drawing about 5 inches of vacuum in the intake--I think it is safe to assume at this point the car is deff making over 500 of each--we will tune it up tom. and see what it pulls--then I would love to do a pull with 342 gears on an inside dyno with hood up, fans etc and see what diff it makes compared to the more real world driving conditions of the outside dyno--I think we are going to put an 85mm MAF instead of pulling the screen and putting the ends back on the smaller one--We should have a dyno sheet when can look at by friday..Tony is only in town tom and I won't have time to try to tune it in and dyno in its current state I don't think it would tell us much anyway the way its setup at this point so I didn't even bother trying to get a better run, it was running out of air and falling flat before 6K anyway, hopefully we will be able to keep the tires on the rollers the heads were built more for torque than hp and boy its got some--This should show however, if the FAST will supply enough air on the bigger motors--I personally think the bigger motors need even more than this can supply but it should remove the vacuum and be a hell of a lot better than it is---I think this 90mm setup is perfect for a good H/C 346 motor.

 Excellent..............I can't wait for your install. So is the 85mm MAF a Z06 MAF? How does the electronics of the 85mm MAF (if it is a Z06 MAF) affect the car?

They will convert it and tune it in to run on my car--it is a zo6 MAF, they have no screen and have really good ends so you don't have to use an aftermarket set--

Thanks Steve--whatever the numbers they will be under real world conditions--humidity was about 86% and 82+degrees which is about average here--

So does this force you to get a different air bridge and filter set-up then?

I can hook up the blackwing with a diff hose--I may have to get a new bridge but they are not that expensive for a zo6 size and I was thinking of getting a more attractive carbon fiber one or something similar---

Well, I have to tell ya....the larger MAF really intrigues me. I wonder if doing it will make a HUGE difference? How much would one compromise by installing the 90mm TB and 90mm Manifold and NOT installing a 85mm MAF??????? Damn you :banghead:  :D

Now that I think about it...............I have a 2001......isn't my MAF 85mm? I believe they did increase the size of the MAF in 2001....right?

   hey I'm on your side I would like to get this done for awhile-everything you do leads to something else--ok it goes fast but it can't handle well you got to be able to stop it, you need bigger wheels and tires, this new exhaust system will let it breath-there is a restriction in the intake, the shifter sucks, those drilled rotors are starting to get cracks, you need a diff hood and a spoiler will set it off, with a heavier rear spring you can lower the rear without worring about bottoming out, you got to have a dual disk clutch you got over 500 lbs of torque--and on and on--I would just like to drive it for one damn week for less than 5 grand-hell I think I can do a grand in gas and oil alone

Damn sounds like you got out light for once you have the bigger MAF already and they have probably already taken out the screen that came in the 2001 model---I guess I'll just have to do this one alone but I am already thinking of a lot of goodies you really need--

Good luck with it Bill . Regarding the 85MM mass-air , I also converted my car to the bigger unit even though Julio thought it would only be worth minimal ( 3-5 hp) , but every little bit counts , so I went with it , I didn't do any baseline testing against the smaller unit so I really don't know exactly what it was worth .

Hi Mike--I'm not sure if its worth any HP just seems like it should flow better and I would rather do it now than find out it is a restriction and have to retune again later, and like you said after all the big stuff is done you get your power 5hp at a time--the MAF is not going to work any diff will just act as a ported version of my old one--

Bill:

Here's a plan: let's meet at Cartek's highly fashionable NJ boutique later in the year when all this new poopie is available and proven, and Julio will get us both to 600 RWHP.

Mark I think that is a great idea then we can run 18" wide slicks--Dave was telling me how expensive things are there and they are lucky to have a building at the price they got theirs--

Kumar--its a 236/242-605/612-114 and I think the overlap is fairly significant--but julio and Carmen both messed around with the idle in SC and neither of them had a prob getting it to idle (of course there guys are the premier matadors of our trade) Rogers guy Tony is working on it now and is having no problem either--the damn thing sounds great and you can feel it wanted to be unleased as you start to put a few r's on it--
