When i did my H/C there was a line from the tranny to the radiator. Am i to believe that the radiator is also a tranny cooler as well? Its been a while since i did it i was just wondering if that was true.
Also those of you running with over 500HP what have you done to help make it last, and how much can the FLP Level 4 really take (trying to decide if i go that route or with a Level 5)? I have a feeling Boost is gonna be addictive and i want to make sure i do not have to change trannies like I do my oil.
And one more thing. Is there more options to a good A4 that can hold up to the power other then FLP? I been a M6 guy for a while so I kind alost on who makes a good one that can hold its own...... Thanks guys I appreciate it.

There is a small finned transmission cooler in the passenger side tank of the radiator. When I had Andy of A&A Corvette install my Level 4 FLP with the 4L65E upgrade, I also had him install one of his HD radiators with the thicker core which, dropped both engine and transmission temps a bit. I also installed a B&M transmission cooler to further drop transmission temps.
At the time I got my FLP Level 4, I wanted the most durable one they made and so I got the 4L65E upgrade. Now they have the Level 5, which includes the 4L65E upgrade and even more upgraded parts.
The FLP is probably the best known of the beefed-up A4 transmissions. Another option that people seemed to be pleased with is one made by Rossler back in Indiana or Ohio. Then there is http://www.tansmissioncenter.net that will build you an A4 or sell you the parts, if you know someone local to build it. CF member vstella is one who went that route and his seems to be standing up to the abuse he dishes out to it at the track

Yes the radiator has a built in tranny cooler. You do not have an external tranny cooler? I see that you are running a 3200 converter , what do your tranny temps run when driving in everyday traffic? The converter will make the tranny run hotter if you are doing a lot of driving in hot weather if you do a lot of stop/start driving. I am in Houston and with all the traffic and heat my temps go up and I am running a B&M super tranny cooler. Rember the heat and higher temps will shorten the life of the internals.
Back to your question on HP/ which tranny to buy.
There are several good builders FLP,Rossler,Century, and my favorite is
PATC.
I am currently running a level 4 from Century and it's rated at 500/550 hp at the wheels that is 2 1/2 years old and no problems.
I was making 470/490 wheels
But the key is we did not put it to test with sticky tires and lot's of abuse.
Just bought PATC level 5 , their 700 E Mega Raptor tranny.
700/700 rated with 3600 stall for n/a and n20 and it will be seeing
track conditions with sticky tires
I want all i can get and then some I don't like down time
I will be running with new setup 500/560 with 150/200 shot and hope this level 5 will last awhilelike has the Century.
Good luck you have a very nice ride
