I think the batterry is dead...went to leave for work this morning at 3:30...turn key...nothing :banghead: kinda thought it was going...so I had the charger/starter ready....the lights and everything worked fine while driving so I am assuming its the battery not the alternator...guess I will be getting it checked on the way home
My battery took a dump Mon.,and I replaced it that night. This is the second battery in 2.5 years. If it wasn't that I was stranded in the boondocks,i would have purchased an Optima battery. The batteries in a Vette don't seem to last too long. My car lost a lot of power until I replaced the bgattery and my var is performing much better. Not my imagination either. Its true. :chevy :chevy :flag :chevy :chevy
My battery died when stopping for lunch. Worked ok, then dead as a hammer. Typical failure. Difficult to jump start due to probably heavy internal drain on the battery. I suspect plates shorted. The real risk is blowing up the battery in this condition. I replaced my 1st bat with the same delco, next time Optima. I am watching mine closely, but they are like light bulbs,, One day on,, the next off. :nonod:
I just returned an optima red top to AutoZone which was in my car for only 13 months. $125 for only 13 months SUCKS in my opinion. I got some money from the PRORATED warranty and only spent $30 for the new one but I dont think that is fair. They should replace it for free. The old one had a 7 year warranty and the new one now has 6 years since I had the old one for a year. I guess it is good it only cost $30 instead of $125 but I think they should last longer for that kind of money........
After 3.5 yrs, mine wouldn't even keep the hood light going for long. Replaced it with the Optima red top and everything is fine. But I'm almost glad the battery went out because when I pulled it for replacement, it had been leaking...not a lot but enough to be readily noticeable.
Oh yeah, the battery type is Optima Red 34/78.
And as mentioned above, I have a 3 year replacement warranty and 7 year pro-rated warranty.
Hey Mr. Fundriver, did you check the battery cable and the convoluted plastic covering for corrosion ? Many times the corrosion can only be found when you remove the small inner fender well cover to fully view the P.C.M. from the wheel well. Believe me when I tell you that that is how I found my leaking problem. It sure is a small insurance that may save you a TON of trouble. Good Luck ! :chevy
