I found the ground and power wires under the passenger side kick board for a shift light installation on my 2001 Z06. Anyone know how to identify the tach wire in this location? I really don't want to go to the pcm or fuse box.
Very cool post!! My previous Mec charged me for install on my shift light and it has never worked. I'll have to get under the dash and hook it up to the right wire.
Thanks,
JB
I used brians under dash location which was super easy to locate and tap wire but my shiftlight wouldnt work due to low voltage signal apparently gm uses very low voltages 3 to 5v and my autometer shiftlight could not pick up a signal. This might be your problem when you had it installed whatever type it is. i had to open it up and bypass the 10k resister on the signal wire right were it enters circuit board this was autometers recomendation maybe it will be usefull to you .
i've got a raptor shift light and need to install so what do I do once i've located the tach wire. I'm not much of a electronics guy but can get buy if someone explains.
