Default Larger Cube Motors -- Someone Please Explain

Hey,

I know very little about how people are getting larger displacement.... except that it can come from bore and/or stroke. Can someone point me in the direction of information that might explain the HP/TQ and drivability characteristics of different motor configurations? I'm going to get a forged motor soon for my Procharger setup and a 383 seems like where I'm headed, but I want to make sure I'm getting the right displacement for my near-stock-drivability desire (and also that I don't end up wishing I had bought a slightly larger displacement motor in the process).

Anyone with a 427 in a daily driver? Just curious if you ever wish you had bought a slightly smaller motor and also curious if there are any things you dislike about it.

All bore motors will make more peak hp but usually a little less tq in the mid range.

All stroke motors will almost never make the peak hp of a similarly setup all bore but are solid down low and in the mid range.

With a 427/434 etc, you get the best of both worlds: the big bore and more stroke.

Since you already have a power adder, I would strongly suggest you go with the 383 all stroke so you dont have any reliability issues.

I would not do an all bore motor unless it was 1) a C5R block or 2) a Darton block with at least a 2 year warranty. I have seen many many people complain about problems with leaks and dropped sleeves on big bore motors.

Mine is sort of a daily driver.
I don’t drive to work, so I don’t drive every day.
Other than that unless it snows or there’s :Usalt or I just washed it and it rains, etc….

I wish it was bigger – a lot bigger.
I’d do like 540ci if we only could with LSx type engies  :(
