Default LS6 Heads with LS1 Intake???

In the process of putting my pieces together for a low budget HC swap. Picked up some Z06 heads for a good price from karshop - Thanks Gene  Can I use my stock 99 LS1 intake on the LS6 heads?
I know it is less than ideal but trying to control the cash flow. The install instructions to put LS6 intake on LS1 heads leads me to believe the the cooling plugs / pipes may be an issue.

You can buy the LS6 coolant tube and plugs. They're fairly inexpensive. Your other option is to take a Dremel tool and remove a little material on the underside of the intake manifold, so the manifold will seat over the tube.

Your 99 intake will work with the LS6 heads. Your 99 coolant vent line setup will also work with the LS6 heads.

If, in the future, you decide to use the LS6 intake then you will need to grind down the webs on the bottom of the LS6 intake for clearance or buy the LS6 coolant vent line with the plugs.

Spend the extra few bucks and get the LS6 intake. You can find them for cheap in the used parts section of this board.

If you replace the intake manifold now,you won't have to pay the additional labor to install the new intake manifold. The price to install the manifold later will probably be pretty close to the manifold.Do it now and save the bucks, plus when you have the car retuned it will be done all at once, saving you more bucks. :chevy :chevy :flag :chevy :chevy
