I've read posts about gas guages showing the wrong level. But the behavior of my gas gauge on my 2000 C5 is different. It takes about 5 minutes to reach the correct level. Anyone had a similar experience?
BTW the manual says don't add additives to the gas tank, but I seem to remember some adding a Chevron product.

I noticed something similar the last time I filled up. When I first started her up the gauge registered 3/4 full. Took the 5 mile ride home to finally register full. I had just used Techron additive to try to avoid the fuel sensor problems I've read about here. This was the next fill-up after that. Maybe someone else will know what's up! :steering:
had a similar problem with my 1998 used redline fuel treatment and has been good for two years now hope this helps :flag

Mine just did it this week...1/2 tank slowly to full. Do not overfill when filling. When pump stops, do not add any more. I did on this fill-up by mistake. My '98 only does this in winter sometimes.
Excellent! Thanks for the information.
I love learning new stuff about my car.
I ran out of gas a couple weeks ago in my newly acquired FRC. :)
It still read 1/4 tank. That's embarassing. Pushing my beautiful new sports car out of a bust intersection.
I'll give a fuel system cleaner a try. My favorite is BG's 44K.
I bookmarked the TSB link. I hope I don't have to do it! :yesnod:
I thought perhaps it was the Shell gas I've been using. So last Saturday I filled up with Exxon. Already the gauge seems better. Now it's only taking about a minute or two to reach the correct level. If it keeps getting better, I'll continue using Exxon.
My gas gauge is pretty accurate once it gets up there. I've run my tank down to within half a gallon a couple of times, and the DIC & gas gauge didn't let me down.

Then you should read some other posts from guys who have run out of gas when they thought the gauge was OK. I've been monitoring the accuracy of my gauge when I get gas and it seems OK too, but I still wonder if it will stay that way.
