Well, I've had a leaky rear diff for awhile now and when I checked under the car this weekend I found that the right hand side had started leaking also at the halfshaft, so decided its time she sits until I get a new diff and torque convertor. I've pretty much decided on 3.42s and the PT2400 as I will be doing some mountainous backroad carving, interstate driving, and maybe some autocrossing. Ooooh, but I'd love to have 3.73s, but I'm not sure as Maggie is an A4 with TTS longtubes and Borlas. Just not sure I could bear it on the interstate...... What do you think? 3.42s or 3.73s?

Mike,
You probably want to stay with the 3.42 rear end as you mentioned the mountain driving. A 3.73 rear with matching converter may not be too fun in a lot of twisties. I opted for a little more stall with my converter selection (Vig 2800), but mostly to get a little more performance at the drag strip while maintaining street manners. One more thing to consider is adding a tranny cooler as you are going with a higher stall converter. Heat kills transmissions.
