I have Pirelli now and need new tires. My tire supplier is offerring me a choice between Pirelli and Continental. Of course, he has other tires, but he feels he can get me the best value on one of these two brands. I'm not at all familiar with the Continental tires.
What are you thoughts on this?
Re: Which should I get? Pirelli or Continental? (Sally)
Pirelli has great size selection, but other than that I'd rather have the cheaper, longer lasting Continental CS2's. Unfortunately I believe there is a national backorder on the CS2's as I recently tried to purchase them for my new wheels coming in.
Bottom line:
Pirelli=High price, poor treadwear, poor wet handling, but good traction once heated up, good looks, awesome size selection.
Continental=Low price, decent treadwear, decent wet handling, decent dry handling, good looks, but out of stock and limited tire sizes.

I have the CS 2's on my daily driven M3 and they handle really well in the dry but they are handful in the wet weather. My ex-girlfriend used my car frequently and I wouldn't let her drive it on these tires in the rain. Things get exciting when your at highway speeds and encounter any amount of standing water on the road

I won't argue about the price, but I have about 12k miles on my Pzeros and they look like new. I knew of the short life reputation of these before I bought them (I got an exceptional deal on them and is the only reason I chose them), but have not experienced that at all.
I have little doubt I'll get at least 25k out of these tires, which really isn't too bad for a performance tire.

You're giving me hope! I get my new wheels & tires on in about a week or so.......I hope they last for the price you pay for Pirelli's they should!

Thanks for all your comments; as it stands right now, I will be getting another set of Pirelli. My tire man, said they have a new one coming available in the size I need the middle of next month. The Pirelli tires I have on the car now have about 35,000 miles on them. The rears are very worn; the fronts aren't bad.
The Continental tires sound good too.
As for other choices... I'm still checking into them.
