Does any one have coilovers on there everyday driver? If you do how is the ride and whose shocks do you recommend. I see that LG uses rod ends on their coilovers and Pro Shoch uses rubber. Any experience out there with either? What spring rates are you using. Thanks Salty
Mine is a weeknight/weekend driver and I have the DRM coilovers. They're great but a little too stiff at 600 lb. rear spring so DRM readily agreed to change that to a 550 lb. spring and I'm expecting good things. I think they're a great idea but a better overall handling car that will give you great confidence in driving it. Once I do the swap, I'll have a 450 lb. front and 550 lb. rear spring. Talk to Randy at DRM--they're good at explaining this.
763-477-9272 Just make sure to tell them that you're going to be street driving the car and whether or not the quality of the roads in you area is good, average or poor. The coilovers let you feel the road so much better--you just don't want to feel it too well if its bumpy!
I am not mechanically inclined... I just like to drive so I did not install them myself. The ride height is adjustable but I hate the scraping over bumps so I'm going to raise it back up... :cry But it looks so beautiful lowered...
After researching coil overs for 5 years... I have decided to buy the MSI units when they come out in a few months.. :yesnod: IMO, they are better than any other C/O's available for the C5's
I had the Doug Rippie coil-overs on my car and took them off, but I am going to put them back on though. The ride was pretty stiff, but not horrendous. They also helped the handling a ton. I am also able to put the car about an inch+ lower without the tires rubbing.
The install was easy, but I would recommend using a lift if you have access to one.

Re: C5 Coilovers for everyday use (Rick Moroso)
I use mine for a daily driver. The main difference between ours and the other brands is that we remove ALL rubber from the mounts, including the top. We make a complete bolt in kit that I use on the street and the track.
We use Aluminum Bilstein shocks that are revalvable rather than a steel shock.
I did the valving myself at the track to insure the best handling and feel.
We also use only HyperCoil springs. I will have a set on my own World Challenge Race car that we will be running at Sebring in one week. (with stiffer springs of course)
Salty:
Not much I can add here. My car's a daily driver / weekend racer and the combination of coil overs and adjustable Penske shocks is a great way to go . I get reasonable daily ride and very responsive track handling.
