Any idea where I can find it and how to get to it? My 99 wipers aren't working anymore. sometimes they come on by themselves and sometimes they won't come on at all. I don't usually drive the car much in the rain, but I really would like to regain use of these wipers. Can someone please help me? I am thinking that mine has the same problem as all those GM trucks that had recalls on the wiper circuit boards. Apparently they developed cracks in the board. I am hoping I can repair it.
The circuit board is located in the wiper motor cover assembly.
To remove the wiper motor you have to remove the wiper arm assemblies, remove the air inlet screen, remove the wiper motor module, remove the wiper transmission linkage from the crank arm, remove the 3 torx head screws retaining the motor to the module, remove the motor from the module. Quite simple.
By the way you should probably buy a manual or talk to a friend that has one. There are some adjustments that have to be made when you put it back together again.

more than likely it is the mechanical switch inside the motor... no circuit BOARD.. there is a switch inside the motor refered to as the park switch..you have the stalk switch. possible short... you have the stal to motor harness.. then you have the motor... with park switch.... then you have the whiper transmission.. I need alittle more information to help you... like.. you said they come on all by themselves... is this with the switch on or off...
if they are running at times... can you turn them off, and if so where do the wiper blade stop?there is one park latch spec that if out will cause a similar problem.. that is the park latch to park tab must be between 0.16 in. to 0.20 in. 4 to 5 mm.
Thanks for the hellp guys. To answer some of the questions you had: The would come on by themselves regardless of the switch(stalk) position. They would stop regardless of their position...sometimes right in my line of site. Sometimes they would park and then come up onto the windshield and then back to park. Totally random events.
One thing that I should have done first, is do a search on these forums to see if this problem had already been addressed. It had...and I think I may have found my problem. Another odd occurence right around the same time....one which I didn't put together with the wiper problem was a considerable amount of water in my driver's side floorboard. I have a convertible, and it ileaks in heavy rain, so I just assumed it was from that. It seems that the more likely scenario is blocked drains in that compartment under the cowl. Apparently that submerges the wiper motor in water and leaks water though a wiring harness into the cockpit of the car. That would explain the erradic behavior of my wipers. I pulled the fuse a while back, just because I was sick of them coming on whenever, but I now know I need to get in there and unclog those lines and let my motor dry out. Hopefully it hasn't done any permanent damage.
I will let you guys know what I find when i look at it tomorrow. thanks again for your help.
Sean: that sounds like a good way to go... shorted motor circuits especially with the stalk switch off ... you can get the car to stop leaking.. and unclog those drains... it just takes perserverance. anything can be fixed...
