Default Kooks Stainless Steel Headers

Has anyone installed these, and how do you like them. I like that they are stainless, and can be had in 1 7/8 inch, for future blower mods. Dyno numbers?

You need to do a search and read some posts. There are many posts on here for these headers and how they compare to others.

Yep. just a couple posts below yours is this thread that is titled "LG vs. Kooks vs. Supermaxx" That one is a start. then you can look at the posters that said they have the Kooks, or the LGs' profiles for more of their posts, and get an idea about their experiences.

I never bought a pair of headers before and unless my wife lets me sell my C5 for a C6, ill never buy another pair of headers. I bough the kooks with the high flo cats, and long tubes. Paid to have them installsed and the car rocks! there is only a couple HP differance between most headers, But not enought to worry about. Go with what you can afford and dont worry about 3-8 HP.

For a supercharged car I would reccomend a 1-7/8 header , either Cartek or Kooks should do the job.

brent,

there are quite a few people that would like to know first hand from someone with a popular setup such as yours.

now, you said you had the 1 7/8 cartek headers on your car at one point, you had the lg longtube( 1 3/4) on your car at one point, and now the kooks 1 3/4 on your car now...

being that you have a 10 sec heads/cam/bolt on's car, a popular setup and relatively logical way to upgrade(vs forced induction), my questions are...

1. why do you suggest the kooks over the competition?

2. did you notice any differences between the 1 7/8 carteks vs the 1 3/4 kooks? if so, what were the positive/negative results?

3. have you tested any of these systems with or without cats and if so, what were the positive/negative results?

your answers will steer a few people in the right direction. theres a gp going on right now on the kooks and these questions came up recently. thanks in advance brent!

Ive got the kooks 1 3/4 headers with the x-pipe and high flo cats. I dont know the differance between kooks and anything else, and most guys will recommend only what they have. Im sure they is only a couple of HP differance between the top 3 headers. That wasnt a concern for me. First price was. I paid about $1250 dollars for my set up. That was several hundred less than most others at the time. ( November of 2003) Installation I didnt care about because I know I wasnt going to install them myself. ( but I understand they are a pain in the azz). Performance. I had my car re-ring a couple of weeks ago, and the dealer put on all my bolt on. The car is fast enough for me now......... I runs great!! :steering:
