My fuel door is not opening. In addition, I cannot find the manual fuel door release anywhere... I've looked all over the rear driver's side area w/ no luck. (it's a 98 w/ hatch) The manual is somewhat vague in this area. Can anyone tell me where this thing is - could it be wedged behind something? (couldn't find anything in archives on this)

I've had the car 4mo, just had it lowered, donaldson & hurst installed. I suspect by checking the archives that the fuel door wiring was not hooked back up after the shifter install. I'm on reserve fuel now, thus I need to fix asap. I plan on checking the wiring hook up tomorrow & the fuse #32(?) in passenger side floorboard area I think?? If someone can confirm the fuse location &/or the location of the manual release for fuel door, it would be MUCH APPRECIATED!!

The manual release for the door is just below the left side of the hatch. Not to far from the fuel filler door. Look behind the carpet. It will be a small diameter shiny piece of cable.

I found the small steel cables for the fuel door and hatch weren't labelled and had been tucked neatly out of sight behind the carpet.

It is easy to dislodge or not fully insert the fuel door connector when fitting the console back in place !

According to my service manual you are correct, fuse 32 is the right one for the fuel door release. Its a 15 amp fuse. It looks like the fog lamp switch is also routed through that fuse. If the fuse is blown it may be worth investigating the fog lamp circuit too in order to find the cause.

you guys rock!!

I'm heading to the gas station, then out for a cruise on this beautiful SC day! Took me 20min - had to crawl around in the hatch w/ a flash light to find the release, but found it after peeling carpet back about 4in. And my guess was correct, the wiring was never hooked back up after shifter install. Manual release now visible & fuel door fixed. Man, I love this site........

How true...if it weren't for this Forum, I'd never have been able to do most of the stuff I've done, including a lot of mods. Hopefully, the few people I've been able to help has paid back some of what I've taken out. :)
