I haven't noticed any oil consumption problems in my 99 before. I took it to the strip last week, and had checked the oil a couple of days before going. It was in the middle of the operating range. After the strip, it's just below the operating range. Is that much consumption normal? I made about 10 runs.
I had some oil burning problems that hopefully were fixed with upgrading to metal valve seals. I filled it to full, drove 350 miles round trip and ran 10 hard 11 second runs, plus I have a 4000 stall converter and 3.42's so it runs a little higher RPM's any way.
After the strip and drive home I was approx. down 1/2 way between full and add on the dipstick, actually a little higher than 1/2 way between those points.
I think it is normal to burn oil after driving your car hard like that, but I would do what I am doing, just monitor your oil to see if that trend continues, or levels of with normal driving.
