Ethanol is not corrosive, you are confusing it with methanol. Methanol will destroy most rubber parts in a hurry.
Here in Colorado we get e-85 in the winter, but it is not 104 octane.

you are correct, methanol is corrosive, not ethanol. I am doing my dissertation work on ethanol and alcohol fuels. Ethanol can be a pretty good oxygenate for gasoline. Problem with ethanol is that it cost so much to produce and that it absorbs water pretty easily. MTBE contaminates water is probably be banned nationwide. Seems the industry has settled on ethanol to use as an oxygenate for now.
