Default Z06 or BlownC5 ?

Well, I am stuck between Z06's and C5's. The main reasons being:

1) I love the targa top (I previously owned a Camaro with T-tops)
2) Love the idea of having 405hp stock.
2) Considering putting a blower on a C5 if I bought one. (This would actually be more expensive then just buying the Z06 to begin with....)

With this all said, what would you rather have? A blown C5 (otherwise stock), or a Z06 with no mods?

Opinions please....

:iagree: :iagree:

I'd rather have a the bigger trunk and removable roof- which fits my needs.

For around 7K +/- installed, you can have an ATI kit from Andy that would put you at 500rwhp- which sure beats the 350 in a stock Z.

well, there's more to the Z06 than 50 more HP. The suspension, wheels, tranny and added body stiffness are also important.
Now, given the choice, I'd rather have the coupe... I love the targa top and can get around the added weight and power issues when compared to the Z06...

I have a blown Z06.The car came before the blower.In retrospect,I should
have gotten the coupe(for all the reasons mentioned above, convenience, etc.)
& added the blower. The Z06 is great but the lack of some creature comforts
like heated seats in cold winters when the car is ungaraged, etc.get wearisome. This is especially true with the 160F thermostat recommended for
the sc.My next one will definitely be a coupe.

:iagree: The Coupe wilth a blower will run away from a stock Z....I like the lines of a coupe, the removable top and big cargo area, so it was an easy choice ..... I just had to add a little more HP to my stock coupe. :D :D :D

I wish that I had asked that very same question prior to my purchase of my '02 Z06. I recently sold it to purchase a new '04 coupe. I'm on the list over at Lingenfelter to have the supercharge package along with a few other goodies installed.

In all honesty, the Z06 was a better looking car in my opinion but that is where the benefits ended for me..

Good luck, either car will be a blast.

If you are going to be satisfied with the performance of the Z06 I would just buy the Z06 instead of a buying a coupe and trying to mod it. Mods for the C5's are extremely expensive. If, however, you want to be in the 400rwhp club, buy the coupe and either do H/C or FI.

Cheers,

Mark

Ok fellas, looks like the majority favors a blown C5 over a stock Z06.
Thanks for your input. :seeya

Yea... can a blower be added to C5 coupe and retain same hood? Stealth would be nice.

Yeah, the stock hood can be used with the exception of a Magnacharger.

Buy used and save some money.

If it was me, I would get a used '01 zo6. Put in a forged shortblock and an ATI blower from A&A corvette. You would also need a new fuel system and clutch. For a total of about 40k you could have a real monster on your hands.

Get the coupe, the much power will be a blast when blown, wider rubber will make you handle with the Z, and on those warm summer nights you'll be happy to be able to remove the top.

The Z06 has a warranty. Can't go wrong either way.
