LT's, High Flow Cats, & X-Pipe Install
I had TPIS long tube headers and Random Tech high flow cats and x-pipe installed. Man, oh Man, did it add some sound and exhaust tone!!! It just sounds bigger and more aggressive. While this started with the B&B PRT's last year, as well as Blackwing addition, it's been completed now.
Most importantly, I went from 317.6 to 346.4 HP and 336.4 to 360.9 ft-lbs of torque at the wheels. I noticed the power boost immediately when stomping on it hard. I also noticed the the punch was quicker at higher speeds. Seeing how the dyno is performed was pretty cool, too! My baby got pretty loud on it!!!
The rumble at idle just sounds deeper and more authoritative. This is something I had noticed when hearing an '81 Vette last year that had headers installed. His engine just sounded more massive than mine, and that's all he had done to his.
The exhaust tone upon acceleration is much better, too. Whether getting on it hard or not, it just sounds better. The monotone drone at 1350 to 1550 rpm when in 5th and 6th is also gone. At around 75-80 mph, there's an exhaust tone that really isn't a drone as it sounds like it has some of the exhaust notes in it. I also like the fact that the popping upon deceleration sounds better, too. Initially, I was thinking that no poping on deceleration would occur after addition of the x-pipe, but thankfully, this is not the case. :hurray:
Thanks in advance.
Rich.
