While the engine is out of the car, I was thinking of polishing and porting the heads; however, I've heard that there is very little to be gained for expense.
From what I was told, was that the LS-1 Heads are pertty well ported out and for the money, depending on what it cost to do the P&P it is sometimes better to just buy a new set designed for the best airflow.
BTW, is there any downside to P&P, like emissions or computer issues.

Its not worth it if you are not going to change to a bigger cam.
The cheapest I have seen ported ls1 heads is around $1000. Combine that with a new cam, and it will be worth it.
Ported LS1 heads outflow the ported LS6 heads up to .450, and at .600 the LS1 flows 283 compared to 289 from the LS6. This is according to LS1/LS6 performance book. So it seem as if it is worth it :auto:
