fuel guage varies, dropping to E, DIC says "Low Fuel", range shows nothing,
then it will bounce back, or stopping/restarting car resets it to correct reading, then weird behavior starts again.
If you do a search you'll find the erratic fuel gauge is a common problem. Some have returned their cars to dealers for fuel sender replacement and software upgrades under warranty. Others have changed fuel brand and found that helped. A lot (including myself) have put a good dose of fuel system cleaner in the tank and found that gets rid of the problem for 10,000 miles or so.

asking the forum what gives?thanks
I have had this problem for 3.5 years. It started within days of receiving the car in Oct 1999 and still persists today. I have hade it "fixed" at least 4 or 5 times. If I could find someone in GM to talk with, I would tell them how much I have "enjoyed" this experience. It is a design defect!!!!! A combination of an issue like this and GM's inability to solve the issue and to continue to sell a product that they know is defective is why God made class-action attorneys. IMHO GM should have its socks sued off. How do you sell a $40,000+ plus auto with a fuel guage that does not work?
