Re: Difference between 1 3/4 & 1 7/8 headers? (YO-EL)
conventional wisdom says 1 3/4 for non H/C cars and 1 7/8 for bigger H/C packages and strokers....can actually loose some low-end grunt and drivability with 1 7/8 LT on a stock motor.
however there is a current thread describing 1 7/8 Kooks on a stock motor that got some very impressive numbers...check it out.
A guy here on the forum tested both sizes on his high hp H/C car and he lost 5 tq but gained a little more Hp . He chose the 1 3/4 and his car is bad azz! I think I will change my order to 1 3/4 also. The larger header will do more for Power adder cars. :grouphug: :hurray:
Re: Difference between 1 3/4 & 1 7/8 headers? (LittleBoyBlu99)
I was caught in the same dilemma of the 1 3/4 or the 1 7/8, I did some inquiring with Carmin and did some research on header design and decided the 1 3/4 would be right for my car even with the S/C.
Remember torque is what wins races!!!!!! :D :D :D :D
"A very common mistake made by some performance people is the selection of exhaust headers with primary tubes that are too large in dia. for their engine's state of tune. Bigger is not neccessarily better and is often worse." :(
While each application is different I have found a general rule of thumb is if your below 400 cid stay with the 1 3/4 even if your FI. :yesnod:
