Default Ceramic pad "break in"?????

I saw a discussion the other day regarding the "breaking in" or "seating" of ceramic brake pads. If I recall, there was a disagreement..

Is there a special or preferred way? Any reading material available?

Thanks in advance.

I didn't do anything special. I did a few agressive stops from 80-20ish then just drove normal. They're great. When using my racing pads I follow the specific instructions that come with them.

I had them installed, and there were 2 corvette mechanics working on it.,
one said go out get upto around 100 and put the brakes on hard, too do
this a couple times, The other said break them in easy for the first 50 miles.
I did kind of a combo, and they work fine. So basically, I don't think
it matters. :steering:

Normal break in is 3 60-5mph at about 80% and 2 80-5mph at about 80% given that 101% ABS will engage. Drive for a few miles without using the brakes at all if possible to cool them down.

Here's something I got from Stop Tech

Brake Pad Break-in Procedure courtesy of StopTech

follow the proper break in procedures for both pad and disc and use the correct pad for your driving style and conditions. All high performance after market discs and pads should come with both installation and break in instructions. The procedures are very similar between manufacturers. With respect to the pads, the bonding resins must be burned off relatively slowly to avoid both fade and uneven deposits. The procedure is several stops of increasing severity with a brief cooling period between them. After the last stop, the system should be allowed to cool to ambient temperature. Typically, a series of ten increasingly hard stops from 60mph to 5 mph with normal acceleration in between should get the job done for a high performance street pad. During pad or disc break-in, do not come to a complete stop, so plan where and when you do this procedure with care and concern for yourself and the safety of others. If you come to a complete stop before the break-in process is completed there is the chance for non-uniform pad material transfer or pad imprinting to take place and the results will be what the whole process is trying to avoid.

Just drive normally. No hard stops for 250 miles.
